Eriacta ( Sildenafil Citrate )
Eriacta (Sildenafil): Uses, Dosage, Safety and Interactions
Eriacta contains sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for erectile dysfunction when a clinician determines that treatment is medically appropriate. During sexual stimulation, sildenafil supports the nitric oxide pathway and can increase blood flow to penile tissue. It does not create sexual desire, does not cause an erection without sexual stimulation, and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Patients with a valid prescription may buy Eriacta from a properly licensed pharmacy after the prescriber has assessed cardiovascular health, current medicines, and suitability. Eriacta price can vary by strength, pack size, dispensing pharmacy, and local coverage, but cost is never a reason to change a dose without clinical advice.
Sildenafil is also used in a different dose regimen and product context for pulmonary arterial hypertension. An erectile-dysfunction product should not be substituted for a pulmonary-hypertension product, and products should never be combined. A medical review is important because erectile dysfunction can be associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, medication effects, hormonal conditions, or emotional and relationship concerns that may need separate care.
Indications
Eriacta is intended for erectile dysfunction in adult men when prescribed for that purpose. It is not for children, and it should not be used by women unless a qualified clinician specifically prescribes sildenafil for an approved or clinically justified indication. Do not use it recreationally or together with another erectile-dysfunction therapy. A clinician should determine whether sexual activity is safe for you before treatment, particularly if you have unstable angina, recent serious heart disease, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure, heart-rhythm problems, or a history of stroke.
Dosage
Use Eriacta exactly as prescribed. For erectile dysfunction, sildenafil is commonly taken before anticipated sexual activity; it may be taken with or without food, although a high-fat meal can delay onset. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. The prescriber selects the strength according to response, adverse effects, age, liver or kidney function, and interacting medicines. Do not take an extra dose if the first dose appears less effective, and do not use it as a scheduled daily medicine unless that is expressly prescribed.
Available strengths commonly include 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. Patients with a valid prescription can buy Eriacta 25 mg when a lower starting dose is clinically appropriate, including in some older adults or people using certain interacting medicines. Patients may buy Eriacta 50 mg only when that is the prescribed strength. Patients may buy Eriacta 100 mg when the prescriber has selected it after considering benefit and tolerability. Eriacta price should be compared only for the exact strength and quantity prescribed, not by splitting or combining tablets without advice.
If an erection lasts more than four hours, seek emergency medical care immediately; delayed treatment can cause permanent injury. There is no routine missed-dose advice for as-needed erectile-dysfunction use. Taking more than prescribed can lead to dangerous effects such as chest pain, fainting, severe dizziness, or a prolonged erection, and requires urgent medical assessment.
Safety Information
Do not use Eriacta with nitrates or nitric-oxide donors in any form, including medicines for chest pain and recreational nitrites known as “poppers.” This combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Do not use sildenafil with riociguat, a guanylate cyclase stimulator. Tell the prescriber about heart disease, prior heart attack or stroke, blood-pressure problems, heart-rhythm disorders, severe liver or kidney disease, bleeding disorders, active stomach ulcer, sickle cell disease, leukemia, multiple myeloma, Peyronie’s disease, eye disease, or hearing problems.
Common side effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, nausea, back or muscle pain, and visual changes such as altered color perception or blurred vision. Get urgent care for chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, a serious allergic reaction, sudden loss of vision, or sudden hearing decrease or loss with or without ringing in the ears. Do not use nitrates to treat chest pain after taking Eriacta unless emergency clinicians direct treatment and know when the dose was taken.
Alcohol can increase dizziness and blood-pressure effects. Avoid driving, climbing, or hazardous work until you know how the medicine affects you. Patients obtaining Eriacta should use a pharmacy that verifies the active ingredient, dose, prescription, and contraindications. Eriacta price is secondary to accurate dispensing and appropriate clinical follow-up.
Interactions
Alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines, and other vasodilators can add to sildenafil’s blood-pressure-lowering effect. A patient should be stable on alpha-blocker therapy before sildenafil is considered, and the prescriber may choose a lower starting dose. Never combine Eriacta with another PDE5 inhibitor or another erectile-dysfunction medicine; safety and effectiveness of combinations have not been established.
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, including ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, and some other antiviral or antifungal medicines, can increase sildenafil exposure. The prescriber may need to change the sildenafil dose or select another approach. Discuss all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, supplements, and recreational substances with the prescriber and pharmacist before use.
